I made another composition book cover.
This time as a gift.

With Pen Pocket!
And it's stripedy!

I made another headband with pocket.

Almost Crackberry friendly, oh well!

I took a break from the paws.

I made a sweater today. So much easier to sew one than to knit one!

Less fuzzy paw #1

It's bigger to be guy sized

Paw #2

So, I'm halfway to my goal of a basket.

Who knows what the basket will look like. There are all sorts of Mayan pine needle baskets. We'll just have to see what the paws may inspire!

Paw number 1

I mentioned yesterday that it was going to be a busy day. The momarrazzi and I spent some time up in Flagstaff as she explains some in her blog.

Anyway, comment was made on the paws I wore.
A bargain was struck.
Two pairs of paws (one pair will be bigger and less fuzzy) in exchange for a basket.
I definitely think I'm getting the better end of the deal!

10-22-2008

Today's going to be a busy day.
I may make another thing, but I'm busy tagging along with the momarrazzi today. I wanted to take a different bag for the day, but it wasn't lined and so always has things fall out.

So, well, I had a few minutes.
Like the bag?

Line the bag!

And, of course, pocket!

10-21-2008

I have to begin this with explaining that I have always been fascinated with stationary stores and notebooks in various forms. I've always liked composition books especially.

I use the composition books as journals sometimes, but find it troubling that they can be so anonymous as to be mistaken for someone else's and that they don't really feel like your own.
(I was one of those people that drew all over their binders in high school, and I can't draw.)

So I found some stripedy ones, but didn't like the colors they had, so I decided to make a cover. A removable cover that could go to the next one when this is filled and keep it the same feel!

Ok, so it's not a perfect fit, but it works.

Ta Da!

10-20-2008

For the first time in several days, I did not hear the siren song of the sewing machine and stretchy fabric.

It was kinda nice.

So, I crocheted off and on all day.

Fingerless gloves

Kinda lacy and Victorian, inspired by MM

Super insane Stripedy!

I thought about using these two striped fabrics to make a shirt that would produce a reaction somewhat on the lines of "Ok crazy lady"

It didn't turn out as strange as I expected.
Maybe because I added a solid stripe to tie it together.
Maybe because my version of crazy is skewed.

Even a stripedy right sleeve must distinguish itself from the left in some way

So, to make it make more sense, have at least one thing that is the same on the body and one sleeve

The momarazzi liked the green on the body of the shirt and the stitching

It makes me think of Punky Brewster and Rainbow Brite, so it makes me giggle

So I got a little bit sewy today.

First, I made this short sleeve shirt, since I haven't made any

Then I made these tights that could also be used as yoga pants

Then a second short sleeve t-shirt

Then these tights, that can only be tights because they're too sheer to wear without cover.

I'm going to try and stop sewing now.
We'll see if that works.

10-17-2008

I found an old hard sided suitcase at a thrift store the other day.

After I aired it out and stopped sneezing, I noticed that it was missing one of the straps

I vacillated between saying "eh, who ties down their clothes anyway" and the reality of how I usually pack creating a necessity of compressing things and then sitting on the top of the suitcase and having a good friend fasten the latches.

So, obviously something had to be done.

First was fabricating some sort of hook for the end of the tie.

You use what you have, so this is made from a Diet Mountain Dew can - not just for holding yummy cold caffeine!

Requisite funky construction using a tie

And it works, as well as the other one anyway!

Using the tie makes me think of it as a traveling salesman fix.

Occasionally we watch Tim Gunn's Guide to Style.
He talks about having certain items of clothing, including sweat pant alternatives.

Maybe this isn't really what he has in mind.

They are fully lined, mainly because the fabric is very loose knit

Pockets!

10-15-2008

Today I made a reversible jacket.

Stripedy right sleeve, of course.

This side will zip, but somehow I managed to not line up the stripe

But, I think this side just didn't want to be the zip up side and did that on purpose

Stripedy

Yay! This side the stripe lines up!

Well, pretty much

Full hood action!

10-14-2008 100th post

Didn't realize that it was my 100th post until posting.
I feel like I should have balloons or something.

But, instead, I was using up scraps of fleece.

I had an idea to make a hat for Mom out of the Saints fleece that I had.

It came out a little big

But the brim flips to make it wearable, but still likely to be co-opted for morning runs or such as it is Baba size

So version 2 is smaller, a little like a flapper cloche hat
Smaller brim still flips up

Or, one person could wear both at the same time.

They'll have to let me know

10-13-2008

A couple of winters ago I was in a house with 1/3 of a roof.
It was a cold Florida winter.
And I had to type.

Solution: Paws

I made a few different fingerless gloves.
Well, as usually happens, I wanted to revisit the idea and make a paw today.

Not as fuzzy as the ones before, and I had some wool laying around, so.....

I wanted to have things a bit different, so it has an opening with button closure.

The top has a cable, and of course, pocket.

The palm is smooth, and the rib is big.

Sorry for the fuzziness of the pictures, I don't hold the camera as still with my left hand apparently.

Maybe I'll make the left paw tomorrow.

Of course, in my new tradition, it will be plain.
The right hand gets to have the stripedy fun!

Stripedy version 4.0

This version of stripedy is made with two solid fabrics

Has it's own pocket

And at least half of it likes the sun!
